It was a day that promised a lot and nearly delivered it all, but ultimately, ended in heartbreak.

With seven laps to go, Ryan Wood was forced to retire from the race with an issue while leading the JR Trophy.

Before that, he was running inside the 10 solidly, managing the points battle with those he was fighting for the two round combined trophy with.

For Chaz Mostert, the speed was a whole lot more positive today. Thanks to a huge first stint, he was able to cross the line in fourth, but a 30-second penalty due to contact with Brodie Kostecki dropped him to 17th.

While it wasn’t the day we had hoped leading in, there was a lot to be proud of these last two weeks.

Today hurts no doubt, but overall, the speed, the win, the podiums and pole position are something we will look back proudly on, but we will also learn from what we can do better going forward.

Bring on Tassie…

Ryan Wood

“I’m gutted obviously, it hurts, but I’m also so proud of everyone in this team, every one of our partners and supporters, everyone who’s helped get us here.

“If you told me at the start of the year what we would have been able to achieve so quickly this year, what we could do at home, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

“The support these last few weeks has been so special, the kiwis have showed up in force, everyone has been incredible, I can’t wait to get back next year already.

“I’m so proud, but we will definitely use this to fuel the rest of the year.

Chaz Mostert

“A lot more speed on our side of the garage today which was pleasing… we finally made some inroads, especially with the race car which we can build on for the next event.

“Everyone in here is hurting a bit tonight, but that’s okay, we can use it going forward to make us stronger.

“Woody did such an incredible job these last two weeks, he should hold his head up high on what he and the whole team were able to achieve.”
