Not the way we wanted to finish off the weekend here at the Australian Grand Prix with Ryan Wood suffering damage before turn 1 whilst Chaz Mostert kept it clean to cross the line P8.

Race 7

Well, where do we start with that one? As Ryan got off the line, cars bunched up around him, three cars wide. Heading down the main straight into turn one Kai Allen drove over the top of the Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing No. 2, sustaining steering damage. Ryan had to bring the car into the lane for repairs, dropping him a lap down on the field.

Chaz had the best seat in the house for the turn 1 carnage, unbelievably avoiding contact by millimeters, with a spinning Feeney ahead, dropping a few places in the process.

Once, the lights went green again after the safety car, Chaz was determined to move forward, making some strong passes. By the checkered flag, the Mobil 1 Optus Racing No. 1 worked its way up to P8.

It was a recovery drive for Ryan, who kept it clean for the remainder of the race to collect as many points as he could crossing the line P21.

It’s now full focus on our double header in New Zealand next month. We have just over a week to get the cars turned around before they go in the container to cross the ditch.

Chaz Mostert

“Although our results today don’t show it, I’m really happy with the improvements we made on the race car today.

“There were a few hairy moments out there today, I’m just glad everyone is okay.

“It’s a bit of a break now before we head to New Zealand, I’m really looking forward to racing in Christchurch for the first time, does that make me a rookie for that round?”

Ryan Wood

“Well, that was definitely one to forget, there isn’t really much to say about that one, our race pretty much ended before we even got to turn one.

“Overall, it’s been a massive weekend for the crew, I can’t thank them enough for all of their hard work, we have made massive strides forward in race and quali pace.

“On a more positive note, we are off to New Zealand next for the double header next month, I’m excited as to show the Team more of my home country and to bring Supercars racing to the South Island.”
