We are headed to the Top End for the Darwin Triple Crown for Indigenous Round.

A massive thank you to Monica Taylor and Hiwirori Hatea for the amazing designs which we get to show off this weekend.

It’s a milestone weekend for Chaz Mostert as he celebrates 400 Supercars race starts on Saturday, he’ll be wanting to make it one to remember.

The Track

2.9km, 14 turns, and one heck of a long main straight, around 900m, where cars will hit a top speed of 271km leading into the biggest passing opportunity into turn 1.

Cars need to thread the needle into turns 2,3,4 and 5 which is another passing area, so keep your eyes peeled.

Format

There are three days of on track action with one race each day.

Friday: The action kicks off with one 45-minute practice session before the two-part qualifying session which follows the below format:

  • Part 1: Sets the grid for positions 11 – 24
  • Part 2: Sets the grid for positions 1 – 10

The lights will go out for the 100km Race 17 at 5pm local time.

Saturday: There is a three-part qualifying session for Race 18 which will follow the below format:

  • Part 1: Sets the grid for P19 – P24
  • Part 2: Sets the grid for P11 – P18
  • Top 10 Shootout: Determines the top 10 positions for the race

There will be a 200km race in the afternoon which commences at 3.20pm local time.

Sunday: There will also be a three part qualifying session, similar to Saturday, with lights going out for the final race of the weekend at 2.40pm local time.

Tyres

We are on the Dunlop Soft tyre for Race 17 and 19 and the Dunlop Super Soft tyre for Race 18.

Pitstops

For the 100km Race 17 there is only one compulsory pitstop, for the two 200km races on Saturday and Sunday there are two compulsory pitstops.

Weather

To no surprise, it’s going to be hot this weekend with temperatures in the 30s.

Chaz Mostert

“The cars look incredible this weekend, the whole Team have done such a good job putting the Indigenous Round liveries together.

“400 race starts this Saturday, that’s a lot of races and a lot of incredible people I have met along the way, here’s to 400 more!

“It’s great to be racing across three days this weekend, it’ll put the pressure on the one practice session on Friday to really tune up the cars before we head straight into qualifying.”

Ryan Wood

“This weekend is a pretty special weekend for me personally, being able to represent my culture means a lot to me and I can’t thank everyone for their support over the last few days.

“Darwin has been a tough track for us in the past, but we made some strong inroads in direction last year, we have been continuing to build on that coming into this weekend.

“The heat is always tough in Darwin, three races across three days will mean we really have to focus on recovering each night before backing it up the next day.”
