The Track
Symmons Plains is a unique track. It’s only 2.41kms long, so the lap times are regularly in the low 50 second barrier. The field spread is small as well, with most cars, if not all, within a second of each other in qualifying.
The turn-four hairpin is one of the most well-known corners in Australian motorsport. It requires near-on full lock to get around and is the slowest corner we go to all season.
The top of the track slopes down to the apex, so it’s a great passing opportunity, but also the chance to hang around the outside and drag the inside car down the back straight.
Tyres
We will be running both the Dunlop Soft and Dunlop SuperSoft compound tyres. For Race 14 and 16 we will be on the Dunlop Soft tyre and Race 15 we will be on the Dunlop SuperSoft tyre.
Pitstops
There is a minimum for one compulsory pit stop for Saturday’s races, with a minimum of two tyres being changed. On Sunday there are three compulsory pit stops for Race 16 which is one more than what we have previously seen for the 200km races on Sunday’s.

Chaz Mostert
“It’s been a while since we’ve been racing, I’ve been itching to get back behind the wheel.
“It’s always great fun in Tassie, Symmons Plains is a short and fast track that always throws something at you.
“There are now three compulsory pit stops for Sunday’s race which will really throw a spanner in the works for strategy across the whole field, it’s going to be an entertaining one.”
Ryan Wood
“I’m looking forward to going racing again this weekend, it’s always really tight in the timesheets around Symmons Plains, one mistake and you’ll tumble down the grid pretty quickly.
“We want to be rolling out of the truck strong this weekend, with two practice sessions back-to-back on Friday, we want to head into Saturday feeling confident.
“We built a lot of momentum in New Zealand, we definitely want to keep these results rolling but we know have to keep working hard and keep our heads down.”
